I find the Psygnosis history a bit confusing in the late '90s and beyond. It had various development and publishing operations, and Eidos Interactive acquired part of its European business in 1998. The U.S. branches closed in or around 2000, Midway got the rights to publish Psygnosis' remaining PlayStation games in North America, and the U.K. studios became Sony's Studio Liverpool. As Studio Liverpool the company continued developing entries in the Wipeout and Formula One series' before Sony shut it down in 2012.

Gaming Ads: Psygnosis
Psygnosis was founded in 1984 and based in Liverpool, England. It developed and published computer games through the '80s and entered the console market in 1989 with Shadow of the Beast. It's first huge hit was Lemmings which was originally developed by DMA Design (Rockstar North) and released in 1991 on many of the computers, consoles, and handheld systems available at the time. In 1993 the company was acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment and although it became a rather well known developer on the PlayStation console (Wipeout, Colony Wars) in the mid-'90s, it did continue to release computer games.
