Gaming Ads: Toho and Tommo

Founded in 1932 as the Tokyo-Takarazuka Theater Company, Toho is best known for Godzilla. It released the first Godzilla in 1954, the same year it also released the highly regarded film Seven Samurai. While Toho continues making movies today, it's no longer in the video game business which it entered in the late '80s and exited by the mid '90s. It only released around a dozen games and it should come as no surprise that five of them involve Godzilla.

Tommo is another company that is still in business today. Founded in 1990 and based in Los Angeles, it's a video game distributor that owns the Humongous brand (Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam, Backyard sports), UFO Interactive, and Retroism, a label it started in 2015 for publishing classic games. I've only got two Wild Arms ads that I possibly could have put with Natsume but Tommo is clearly responsible for the ads. Sometimes it can be difficult to determine if it's a game's publisher or distributor that created an ad.
