Gaming Ads: Ultra Games

Ultra Software Corporation was a Konami of America subsidiary created in 1988 that released games under the Ultra Games label. It was a move that allowed Konami to circumvent Nintendo's policy that limited how many games each publisher could release per year for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Once NES publishing contracts began expiring, the Sega Genesis became a legitimate contender, and the Super NES launched, Nintendo didn't keep such strict rules in place. Therefore, Konami no longer needed the Ultra brand and ended it in 1992.
