Stomper Booklets

I've only mentioned Stompers once thus far on the blog, which was in regards to LJN's copycat Rough Rider A-Team vehicle. Stompers are battery-operated toys that were created by Eddy Goldfarb and released by Schaper Manufacturing in 1980. There are a variety of types, such as motorcycles and dragsters, but most Stompers are 4x4 trucks. The scans are of a horizontal booklet that I couldn't find a year on (best guess is 1983) and a vertical booklet dated 1984.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi 1984 Calendar

I often try to post something for Star Wars Day which is May 4th and this year Return of the Jedi is celebrating its 40th anniversary (it's now in theaters through the 4th). As I write this I've got nothing prepared but I'm going to try and put some more posts and maybe a video or two together that relate to Return of the Jedi. There are a variety of Star Wars related posts on the blog already, though the only previous post that is only about a product from the third movie is this one: Star Wars: Jabba the Hutt Throne Room Model Kit. For this post I photographed the 1984 Return of the Jedi calendar, it was too big to scan so I had to go with photos. It's a little beat up but still in decent condition and it has some hand writing in it, especially in December where someone, likely my sister, appears to have been counting down the days until Christmas. The calendar has some pre-printed notes in it too, like holidays, though it also mentions the dates that principal photography began on each Star Wars film and the birthdays of the primary actors. In the middle of the calendar is a poster of Imperial ships and the 2nd Death Star above Endor.

TSR's 1984 board game isn't directly based on the pen-and-paper Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) but rather the Saturday morning cartoon (1983-85). This is my first video dedicated to a single board game in part because fantasy worlds are fun and I enjoyed the cartoon when it aired, and, of course, most things related to D&D have cool artwork (like the Colorforms set I showed previously). Plus, it's a fairly simple video to put together which always helps and it has some monsters so it vaguely works as a Halloween video, maybe. Also, this year the Dungeon Master character made a return in the video game Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms and Hasbro recently unveiled some new action figures based on the show in a line titled Dungeons & Dragons Cartoon Classics. As you'll seen in the video or the photos below, the board game surprisingly doesn't use dice or even a spinner. Instead players move around the board and interfere with their opponent's movements using cards.
