Gaming Ads: Sage's Creation and Sanctuary Woods Multimedia

Sage's Creation was founded by the president of Hot•B to publish its Japanese games in the U.S. for the Sega Genesis and Game Gear because at the time Hot•B USA was restricted under its publishing license with Nintendo. The publisher only released six games between 1990 and '91. I've got ads that feature all of its games as well as two others that it ultimately did not publish.

Canada-based Sanctuary Woods Multimedia was founded in 1988 by Brian Benniger and his wife who had also founded Speakeasy Software in 1978. It began as a developer of business software before releasing games in 1992 and opening a U.S. branch in 1993. In the mid '90s it expanded through acquisitions but that led to financial difficulties and the development branch in Victoria, B.C. was purchased by Disney Interactive in 1996. Sanctuary Woods filed for bankruptcy in 1999.
